POHUTUKAWA COAST
An attractive area south east of Auckland City, the Pohutakawa Coast comprises of rolling countryside and extensive coastline. Whitford is recognised as prime countryside living. Beachlands and Maraetai are attractive coastal settlements with stunning sea views and boating facilities and Maraetai Beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the Greater Auckland Region. Pine Harbour has a boat marina and a terminal for a ferry services to the Auckland CBD. Duders Beach features Umupuia Marae and a regional park.
To the south of the Pohutakawa Coast is another rural settlement at Clevedon. Clevedon is recognised for its popular Farmer’s Market and Polo grounds. Close by is the airfield at Ardmore.
Recreational activities on the Pohutakawa Coast include not only boating and water sports but also two golf courses and two Pony Clubs. The landscape includes vineyards and a world class garden at Ayrlies Farm.
